Sharing with you some key components of developing all round hip mobility and control in end ranges, here are my Top 4 mobility drills using @mirafitofficial sliders: 1: Front Split Slide: Go slow and keep tight in the and or you may go to far and not be able to pull it back! 2: Cobra to Pike: Brilliant for developing control and strength for the transition between maximally flexed and extended 3: Mountain Climbers: Simple yes, but very useful for developing hip flexion patterns which require lifting the knees, such as sprinting or jumping 4: Long Reverse Lunge: A great lengthener and mobiliser of the hip flexor to allow better hip extension and encourage glute activation. Highly recommended for sufferers of lower back and for people training back bends of any sort. Sliders are an underrated tool - they allow movements to isolate specific joints without having to compensate or move other parts of the body, thus focusing more effort and gains into the isolated articulated joint chosen for the load/force. Have a go and tag me in your own exercises! mobility

Ad | Quick combo on the parallettes at the UnderArmour Rush event in London last week! I’ve been testing out the new clothing from @underarmouruk these last 10 weeks alongside my London team mates @smallspartan_barsparta @terrolllewis @victorianiamh @annieopenshaw @aimeevictorialong @tomblissfit . This particular line helps improve performance and provides compression for working out, meaning you can work out longer and get more out of your training - check out the UnderArmour website for more details on the fabric technology and how it all works!

Bullet proofing shoulders for function - How’s your shoulder rotation? In this video from this weekend’s @bodyweightgurus Mobility Instructor certification, I’m demonstrating how to coach a simple test you can do at home for external and internal shoulder rotation. Shoulder rotation is extremely important for the proper execution of certain exercises, for example Handstand (external), Overhead Squat (internal), Deadlift (external), Punching (internal). It can also help mediate against injury when put into these through external force, for instance the or in Jiu Jitsu/Wrestling. How to do the test: 1. Adopt a wall squat position and raise the arm laterally to 90 degrees with the elbow flexed away from the wall. 2. Keep the scapula and spine stuck to the wall - imagining you are squashing grapes between you and the wall helps to maintain the correct position 3. Rotate your shoulder joint upwards so your hand moves towards the wall for external rotation, or downward toward the wall for internal rotation. How do you know what is a good range of motion? - If you can get your hand to touch or almost touch the wall for either test, it would indicate as a good range of motion and active mobility, good enough for most athletic uses. Of course this can always be improved, and anything 45 degrees or less away from the wall would be considered healthy for common use. If the hand is more than 45 degrees away from the wall at maximum rotation, and/or you experience discomfort in your shoulder, it might indicate a dysfunction or a structural issue, and more testing will be required with a professional to see what might be causing the lack of mobility. If you want to know more about how to improve your shoulder strength, mobility and control, let me know your issues in the comments or DM me! Thanks @clarelivemore for doing a great demo! 😎💪🏽 @thelondonfitclub

Great day seeing these faces again at the @underarmouruk event yesterday! The new Rush clothing we have been testing over the last 10 weeks is embedded with minerals which reflect infrared light and heat back into the body, which is supposed to help with performance. We’ve been using it over the past few weeks to see if it helps... I beat all my test scores compared to last time which was great, down to all the endurance training I’ve been doing with team London @smallspartan_barsparta @terrolllewis @victorianiamh @maevemadden @aimeevictorialong @tomblissfit @annieopenshaw
