***Attention New York City*** Sunday has been canceled. Stay indoors, nothing to see out here. Really, we got this. How about a hand for all our officers and traffic agents who are working outdoors in this brutal heat today? If you seen them out there, a smile and a Thank You will go a really long way (but maybe not the best day for hugs.)
Hot town, summer in the city!🔥 The temperatures are still soaring out there! Please remember to check on those who may be at risk in this heat...even those with 4 legs! And don’t forget to stay hydrated. 💦
Detective Gonzalez & Officer Perez are well-equipped and prepared to handle any emergency! While responding to a overdose in DUMBO, these 84 Precinct cops found an unresponsive man on the kitchen floor of his apartment. Officer Perez quickly administered two doses of Naloxone before the man regained consciousness and was transported to a local Brooklyn hospital by Emergency Medical Services.
A 76-year-old grandmother from Queens just wanted to get a bite to eat when she was suddenly hit in the neck by a stray bullet. The suspect was arrested & #NYPD officers from the 113 Precinct along with girls from @palnewyork surprised her with that @popeyeslouisianakitchen she never got.
The high temperatures around the city won't stop Officers Odeh and Aydin from the #NYPD 84 Precinct from having some fun with neighborhood kids. They took the time to create streams of bubbles for these smiling youngsters who were more than willing to chase every last bubble down.
On Sunday, an armed robber stole a man’s cellphone on 15th St & 3rd Ave and fled the scene by carjacking a woman nearby. Thanks to Officers Difiglia and Juste from the 76 Precinct in Brooklyn, he didn’t make it very far. They caught up to the suspect, made an arrest, and recovered the firearm used in the previous crimes!
Every day our cops carry out random acts of kindness. They don’t do it for the recognition or accolades, they do it because it’s their calling. Last week, Transit Officer Swartz was caught on camera helping a blind woman hail a cab in the rain. Thank you for showing what it means to be an #NYPD cop.
From Bay Ridge to Jackson Heights, our officers are out there taking dangerous narcotics off our streets. Just this week, Officers Costa and Azo from the 115 Precinct confiscated an assortment of drugs and a knife while responding to a call about a violent, erratic individual. In a separate incident, the 68 Precinct Anti-Crime Team carried out a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of heroin, crack, cocaine, oxycodone, MDMA, and amphetamines. Getting these narcotics off our streets is about saving lives and reducing violence.
Talk about the dog days of summer out there! 🐕 Officer Long, from our Highway Division, helped his new friend stay hydrated by sharing a few sips of his water with him. If you see a dog locked in a car on a hot day this summer, make sure to give us a call.
Houston, we hear you loud and clear in NYC! This week, the NYPD became the first law enforcement agency to chat in real time with the @nasa International Space Station, 250 miles above earth. We brought in our Explorers to take part in this out-of-this world experience, and they had so much fun that now they all want to be astronauts instead of cops.
“And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling cops!” A motorist was stopped by Highway Unit #2 Police Officer Gatto for driving in the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane in #Brooklyn with a homemade in the backseat. While we appreciate the creativity (and the seatbelt,) he still got a ticket.
While most New Yorkers were catching 💤, the 41 Precinct Anti-Crime team was hard at work safely removing this loaded firearm from the streets of Hunts Point. This Bronx community can rest easier knowing officers like these are out there serving & protecting.
