"Our deepest fear is not that we are weak. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world ... As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Nelson Mandela . .

I just finished watching “The Price of Free” a documentary on Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi who has worked to free over 80,000+ children from slavery through his organization Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA). WATCH THIS FILM. It’s free on YouTube. I have worked with many anti-trafficking organizations. My short time at BBA was very memorable. I have never met a group of more intelligent dedicated activists, social workers & advocates. In 2011 (when this picture was taken) one of the investigators was badly injured during a raid. I remember visiting him in the hospital and him saying the only reason he was upset (not his head wound from being hit by a brick) was not being able to rescue all the children. After the Child Rescue Team was attacked during that raid BBA was able to get the High Court involved for the first time. That was what I learned during my time with them; that change the kind of seemingly impossible change will happen when we demand it. The film does an amazing job showing the brutal realities of rescuing children from traffickers. It pays respect to all the BBA activists who have sacrificed their life (Dhoomdas, Adarsh & Kulu) fighting for a world where every child deserves to have a childhood. If ending child labor is something you care about- start by watching this film. I put the link in my bio or you can find it on YouTube ⬆️ “We cannot end child labor unless we ALL demand it.” . @soulpancake @lovestruckcowhq @kscfindia

My only regret in 2018 is not bringing back Goan chorizo like @chefharsh told me to. Huge mistake. . . .

Warning cheesy post ahead 🚧 @sawhneyyyyy since I didn't get to write my usual "Kristin letter" Insta it is. * *For anyone who has not received one yet I LOVE writing handwritten letters & cards. You most likely will receive one...** Back to cheese. P. Thank you for always listening. For letting me be 💯 me even when I'm being ridiculous. For always being there. For not judging (but then always knocking sense into me...) Thanks for being you. I'm extremely lucky to have you as a friend. Ticket is waiting for you.

I landed in Arimatsu yesterday. It’s HEAVEN. Spent my day literally 10am to now 6pm learning from Hiroyuki Murase a fifth generation artisan. There were once thousands of Shibori artisans in Arimatsu, where Shibori has been practiced for over 400 years. Every family here has their own specific technique and the Murase family founded their brand Suzusan over a century ago. It does not disappoint it’s gorgeous. Jaw dropping gorgeous textile art. Hiroyuki said probably 100 times today to me, “NO.” His google translation was at times so painfully honest aka “you don’t understand anything Shibori ” 😂 but at the end of day one learning from him my head- my heart is so full of creative energy.

Remember when we picked up two hot British guys at the train station and then went on a weekend trip with them? @chloe_hauenstein @taotaobell let’s re-create another weekend adventure soon!

I was such an awkward fourteen kid here. This was the day I got to know Tara’s boyfriend (now husband). For anyone who doesn’t know, Tara watched me when I was younger & is as close as I’ll ever get to having an older sister. We spent the whole day doing super cheesy touristy things we wouldn’t normally never do Not only do I look back at this time grateful for those memories with her but also grateful for memories with the city. I had no idea that two years later it would be forever changed.

LOVE IS LOVE! As I woke up this morning to the news alerts on my phone I just cried. They were happy tears. For years I saw how section 377 caused & suffering to friends of mine (and quite frankly caused to those I didn’t know which it still hurt to see). When the British introduced Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, imposing up to a life sentence on “whoever voluntarily has carnal against the order of nature.” The law was usually enforced in cases of between men, but it officially extended to anybody caught having or . I know CRAZY. My friends who not only stood societal pressure but stood up against this- so strong. I’m so happy to see the end of section 377! It’s better late than never. It’s been a year. It’s been a tough one. I try to love my scars and the way my injuries have changed the way I look. It’s a work in progress. Not hiding behind big sunglasses is a start.

It’s . My brother, Paul (aka Phatty) could not be more different than me. He loves college football, craft beer, Singapore & finance. Hard pass to all. But, one thing my brother & I can definitely agree on is that we hate visiting the Taj. Sorry Agra, you are terrible. _ This past year my brother has become my confident & best friend. I have developed a huge respect for him. This year he has accomplished so much like murdering his first marathon ... then didn’t train & ran a second! Still don’t understand how he’s still alive. He took a huge risk in his career & I couldn’t be prouder of him for taking the leap. I’ve watched him grow up so much that sometimes I hang up the phone and just cheesy smile for awhile because I’m just so proud of the man he is becoming. Still working on him to love Delhi. Guess no one is perfect. Love you little bro 💕
