See you all next year at Check link in our bio for more pictures!

Today we joined our community members and partner organizations on to protest Amazon's continued involvement with ICE. Amazon profits off government contracts, that lead to the detention of immigrants & harm our communities of color. When our communities are under attack we will stand up, and fight back! @drumnyc @maketheroadny @mpowerchange @jfrejnyc @conmijente @alignalliance

MELA TODAY! 1pm at 77th Street in Come try delicious Nepali food from Yamuna at Bhanchha Ghar, who is receiving the Small Business Trailblazer award. She has faced many challenges running her biz & feels the city must do more to protect immigrant small biz owners @bricbrooklyn @nycsmallbiz

Mr. Mirbahar Jahangir Hossain is the president of the Hillside Park Tenants Association and will be receiving our Community Organizer Award! His building was the target of constant harassment and abuse by their landlord, Zara Realty. Mr. Jahangir and the tenants banded together to educate themselves of their rights and organize. Their tenant association is one of the oldest in Zara's buildings and their advocacy, in partnership with the City Commission on Human Rights and other community groups, helped lead to legal action taken by the State Attorney General. Because of his work, Mr. Jahangir has become a well known leader in his community, and we are thrilled to honor his work!

@caaavnyc has been organizing in the Queensbridge Houses for years, one of the largest public housing developments in the country. They have successfully worked with the Asian tenants in the buildings to ensure that their housing and communities are protected in the long term. In an area ripe with speculation and gentrification, threatening to displace our community,CAAAV has worked to ensure the Queensbridge community is aware of their rights and knowledgeable about how to push back. Their work with the Bangladeshi community especially, a community that has been long ostracized in public housing, reflects what building community power looks like. CAAAV has also been a key player in the recent rent reform fight, ensuring that the Asian tenants who went to Albany had their voices heard, as well as the fight against Amazon, whose arrival would have threatened the housing stability of the Public Housing tenants across Western Queens. We are thrilled to honor CAAAV today with our Community Leadership Award for Activism!

Are you ready for ?! We'll be celebrating the diverse culture of Queens from 1pm-5pm today with performances, local food and merchandise, and so much more! Share your experience and follow the fun using the and learn more about this year's theme, at the link in our bio. Tip: Get here early to sign-up for the highly anticipated Pani-Puri Eating Contest!
