Check designluck's Instagram Taking into account the billions of people that have ever lived, and acknowledging that a good portion of them have told their stories through written record or otherwise, it’s a little silly of us to believe that any problem or any challenge or any situation we face is unique.⠀
⠀
Beyond just silly, it’s also limiting. By using a combination of the stories of others, we can make better decisions ourselves. We can bypass inefficiencies, we can cut out needless trial and error, and we can speed up the general process of learning and understanding.⠀
⠀
We’re bad at predicting what our future selves want because we change too fast. Luckily, we have the benefit of hindsight in the lessons of others. Let’s use them. 1567183434328349518_4015130263

Check jthegratefullife's Instagram Homemade Coconut Buns 😋😍 My mum and my 70-year-old auntie came to visit us. As the conversation went on, my auntie told me that it's so hard to find the traditional coconut buns at the bakery shop nowadays. Without thinking much, I went straight to the kitchen to bake her some fresh coconut buns since I still have leftover ingredients from the Ondeh Ondeh Bread which I baked few days ago. She is very happy, so do I to see her happy face! After having my own kids, I know clearly that I have to learn to balance priorities as I entered another phase of life - raising young kids and caring for the elderly. It's not easy to juggle so many things at once but we shouldn't neglect the elderly's simple wishes like this. There is something just beyond the material and self. I am very thankful to my family who teach me to love unconditionally and I feel so blessed to have them in my life! ❤️ #homemade #homebaked #homebaking #bread #buns #coconut #breakfast #snacks #butfirstcoffee #oldschool #nostalgic #childhoodmemories #familylove #familyiseverything #ilovemyfamily #gratefulheart #foodphotography #foodphotooftheday #instafood #yummy #wednesdaywisdom #thoughtoftheday #momlife 1567178649658988908_240002336

Check globetrottingfam's Instagram While hanging with this little one today, I had an epiphany. I have always interpreted "selfless parenting" as putting aside my own needs to care for my child's needs first. If she's hungry, I feed her before I eat. If she's cold and without a jacket, I give her mine. Today, however, I suddenly had a different interpretation of what "selfless love" can mean when it comes to parenting. How about putting aside our own world views and our own baggages to give our children the freedom to explore and be who they are? So many times we may be tempted to say "Baby, look at that bird! Look at that cute dog!" because we think those things are so worthy of their attention. How about stepping back from that and seeing what THEY choose to explore? It can be dirt. It can be a bug. It can be a random piece of foil on the ground that they find fascinating because of its reflection! We may feel differently towards their choices but as long as their choices are not dangerous or harmful, why don't we embrace and respect them? The "selfless" part is putting aside what makes us uncomfortable (for whatever reason), and choosing to let our children just be. We have to remember that they are individual beings. They are not an extension of us (even though we love calling them our mini me's) and they are not meant to fulfill our unfinished dreams. True selflessness means recognizing this as parents and raising our children to be their unique selves. Celebrate them for who they are, even if it doesn't align with who you imagined them to be. ❤️ 1567174097020821802_1528886090
