“Together as a nation, we have the obligation to put sunshine into the hearts of our little ones. They are our precious possessions. They deserve what happiness life can offer.” – Nelson Mandela 🌻💛 For Mandela Day, Student Division members and Executive Committee Regional Representative, Genevieve Burrow, visited the Vrygrond Community Reading Centre (VCRC). Several weeks ago we were introduced to Jane Sylvester, the rockstar librarian who runs the centre, and Chenylle Landrew, by a long-time community volunteer worker. Genevieve introduced The South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP) to the VCRC and we met today to hand over goodies for the children. 🍬🥪🥤 We delivered sweet treats for the children – chips, marshmallows, cake and juice – SACAP provided packets with sandwiches, chips and Fizzers. This was much to the beaming delight of the kids. SACAP, Celeste, their students and tech team were brilliant, kindly donating much more than sandwich bags. In fact, SACAP donated eight computers and boxes of books! 📖👩🏾‍💻👨🏾‍💻💻 We had a lovely day and we look forward to participating in their Women’s Day initiative next Month. ♀️ 🤩 “We ‘skell’ them and tell them to do homework and get the older ones to volunteer so they are off the street and learning something that will benefit them.” — Jane Sylvester @sacap_sa #StudentDivision

Cape Town, Western Cape

We had the best time at our Western Cape social event! Student Division members were invited to a social gathering by Genevieve Burrow, our Western Cape Regional Representative. Although the event was scheduled to take 1.5 hours to two hours max, our members stayed for four hours! We introduced ourselves and discussed studying psychology at universities, postgraduate studies, different disciplines, and a great deal of advice and suggestions were offered. It was a fantastic day and we are excited that we were able to introduce SD members to one another to start networking, and gaining the support needed. Thank you to those who made it, we look forward to the next one! #StudentDivision

Hmm this must've been the 5th Marvel film I've caught with these former #StudentDivision juniors of mine...they've all grown up now, just like how Peter Parker had to. Loved the endless references and tributes to Iron Man, Cap and a bit of Thor. What a twist at the end though. Mysterio's role was predictable for comic book fans but also made more realistic when integrated into the MCU. Overall it's obvious the movie's key theme is that of deception and parodies the threat of fake news in modern society. What do you do when you're all defenseless and out of ammo? That's right, you build a new suit yourself.

. . . #studentdivision

The Student Division in Gauteng held their first members social gathering on Saturday. The event was attended by mentors and mentees from the Mentorship Programme, and was additionally open to all Student Division members. The day included similarity exercises to familiarise members with one another, a discussion about Psychology, and a thoroughly enjoyable game of 30 Seconds! It was fantastic to gather together some of our members so that they could meet one another, network with other SD members at various levels of their academic and professional careers, network and meet our Leadership team! Thank you to our SD members who made it! And thanks to the organisers for making it possible. #StudentDivision

@ DASH meeting tonight. Since it was @msyz who asked for a photo we happily obliged :P It was a pleasant surprise to listen to the chiefs performing a song to encourage everyone. Been trying to do that at institution level over the years with fellow TBZs as well lol. It requires quite abit of courage and shamelessness to push ahead, but when I see the enthusiastic laughter from the ground it reminds me that it will always be worth it. Thoroughly exhausted as I started work at 7am with yet another new hire orientation to run. I know I need rest to last another long day tomorrow, but faced with the dilemma on missing out on a final Dash meeting with friends who made the effort to come down, I knew I had to be here. Our attendance might've been the smallest but it seemed we were the noisiest, which is perhaps testament to the family-like squabbling among good friends. The institution still has a lot more work to be done but as we all joked around with each other I can't help but feel a burgeoning sense of camaraderie. It feels like everyone really wants to contribute and make it work. Looking forward to the ! #StudentDivision
