Cat and I did partner back extensions whilst on our honeymoon. • I suffered from a pretty gnarly back injury over 2 years ago. • My back doesn’t bother me anymore, for the most part. • But, if I don’t exercise, it bothers me. • At this point of the honeymoon, we got to our villa (trullo, if you want to get more specific) and it happened to have a 16kg kettlebell, which was really quite an awesome discovery. • • We also found a good spot to do some partner assisted back extensions. • These partner back extensions with a KB held to my chest hammered my back in the best of ways. It didn’t bother me again. • If you don’t strengthen the muscles around a joint, that joint loses stability and thus becomes prone to injury. • Resistance training is key to reducing the chances of injury. It won’t prevent it, but it will significantly reduce the chances. • A meta-analysis in 2014 showed resistance training to be effective at reducing the chance of injury up to 69%. Stretching only up to 4%.
