๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ Often I get members walk into my office and ask, what exactly is Biokinetics? Many people struggle to make sense of it so I thought I would explain in further detail. It is the science of movement and the application of exercise in rehabilitative treatment of performance. Our aim is to optimize physical functioning and healthcare through exercise as a modality. We provide final phase rehabilitation by means of scientifically- based physical activity program prescription. Whether you are dealing with orthopaedic injuries/ recovering post-op, dealing with any cardiac/chronic/autoimmune/neurological conditions and are uncertain whether exercise is a safe modality. We will be able to provide advice and guidance to optimize your physical abilities and overall health. We work closely with other health professionals including doctors, physios, chiros, OTs and podiatrists to optimize your health and well being. Prevention is often a better plan than trying to find a cure. That's why we eat well to avoid illness, train well to avoid weakness, and do mobility and self-care to avoid injury. The newest addition to this for me and my athletes is the @myomasterltd We were turning a lot of heads in the gym yesterday using it, and lots of people came over to give it a go. *Warning Myo team you might get a boost in sales* I've been using it with athletes to help avoid little niggles becoming anything more, getting in to disperse knots and loosen off tight areas. @fred_mou99 has a niggly bicep tendon from lots of upper pulling; jiu-jitsu combined with learning to rope climb and hit weight pull-ups takes its toll. So we get into his pec/bicep tie in to loosen off. @sonny584 gets issues with shin splints and his elbows from footwork and striking daily. Some lateral elbow and forearm digging to solve this. @shane__kent ... Well he's just got massive calves that need some looking after! And me ... IS FAT TO BLAME FOR AN INCREASE IN PAIN?โ  โ  The more weight we pack on hugely influences our joints and tissues within our . As obesity levels rise, so does the number of joint replacement surgeries being performed, is there a link? The more weight we put on the more our joints and tissues have to withstand and the more wear and tear we place on them. โ  โ  More research and studies are now looking at the relationship between increased weight and peoples levels. In a more recent study they have found a direct link between obesity and inflammation.โ  โ  Fat tissues produce inflammatory chemicals that spread throughout the , unfortunately our nerves do not respond well to these chemicals, and lead to an increase in to an injury or joint.
