So thankful for the opportunity to attend the gathering with my daughter to denounce the senseless separation of families by ICE. smakeamericagreat

🚨 TOMORROW 🚨 Lawrence! It is time to take our Sanctuary Dreams and make them a reality! We have rallied now, let's get to work! Tomorrow, July 23rd 6:00pm at the Lawrence Public Library we will hold our first Community Action Meeting. At this meeting we will gather to update the community on our successes, provide education on our path to sanctuary, and create action groups who will; 1. Create Sanctuary City Policy that we will present to city commission. 2. Create a team of rapid respond-ers to help our fellow immigrant community in the event of federal enforcement interactions & foster a community lead group to hold our police department accountable for safety of ALL people. 3. Create an Education and Outreach team that will provide resources, training, and education for and to serve our immigrant/migrant/refugee community. 4. Create a fundraising team for our Emergency Fund, and continue efforts to raise money for legal assistance, bonds, and family expenses in the event of an individual's detainment. We need your help to step up and protect our community! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via Facebook or our email; sanctuaryalliancelawrence@gmail.com **Child care will be provided for this event** #immigrantsmakeamericagreat

•Anne Bradstreet/1• 🌼 The Puritan belief that man's word, even in verse, could be used as a vehicle for God's truth wasn't contested rather set in tension with other impulses that helped making Anne Bradstreet's poetry exceptionally vivid and dramatic. Mostly, it sprang from the fact the she was a woman. She came to Massachusetts with her husband in 1630. Many years later she wrote to her children that at first her "heart rose "when she "came into this country" and "found a new world and new manners". "But", she added, "after I was convinced it was the way of God, I submitted to it and joined the Church in Boston." She had to submit to the orthodoxies of faith and behaviour under civil and religious patriarchal authority. Bradstreet raised eight children. Despite this, she found time to write poetry, that was eventually published in London in 1650 as The Tenth Muse Lately Sprung Up in America. In the preface, the publisher felt obliged to point out that poetry had not been written in neglect of family duties. 🌼. The status of more than 50,000 beneficiaries of TPS from Haiti is hanging in limbo. Today was supposed to be the scheduled day for the administration’s termination of TPS for Haiti, however, the TPS designation remains in effect while lawsuits are pending. Things to know about TPS for Haiti are: 1. TPS continues as long as preliminary injunctions ordered by the Court are in effect; 2. Current beneficiaries do not need to re-register at this time; 3. Employment authorization is automatically extended through January 2, 2020. On Thursday, a Senate Bill was introduced by Florida Senator Marco Rubio that would require the US Department of Homeland Security to extend TPS for Haitians for another 18 months. That Bill has not passed the Senate and would be a temporary solution. #immigrantsmakeamericagreat
