Frogs are the most familiar group of amphibians who are excellent indicators of the quality of their environment. On today's Nature and Wildlife we compiled some fascinating frog facts that you might not have known. 1. There are 5,000 species of frog in the world. Each specie has a unique croaking sound and some frog calls can be heard a mile away. 2. The biggest frog in the world is the Goliath frog. It lives in West Africa and can measure more than a foot in length and weighs more than 7 pounds, that's as much as a newborn baby. ๐Ÿ˜€ 3. A group of birds is called a flock, a group of cattle is called a herd, but a group of frog is called an army! 4. Frogs do not need to drink water as they absorb it through their skin. This puts them at the risk of absorbing whatever pollution are in water and air. 5. Frogs are carnivores that eat live preys. They don't normally hunt, but wait for their prey to come close enough for them to attack. 6. Frogs swallow their food using their eyes. When a frog swallows its prey, it blinks, which pushes its eyeballs down on top of the mouth to help push the food down its throat. 7. A golden poison dart frog is considered as one of the most poisonous animals on the planet. One gram of poison produced by the skin of this frog could 100,000 people. 8. One of the ways you can tell a male frog from a female is by looking at their ears. If the ear is larger than the frog's eye, it is a male; if it is smaller, it is a female. 9. Frogs can see forwards, upwards and sideways all at the same time. They never close their eyes even when they sleep. 10. Frogs can jump over 20 times their own length; that is like a human jumping 30 meters. Frog are eaten by humans in many parts of the world. We will be back next week with another interesting episode of Nature and Wildlife. #didyouknow
