Score: 5/5 Bookmarks⠀ ⠀ You guys, Buried is now my all-time favorite thriller. I loved it so much and just couldn't put it down. The characters were real and multi-faceted, and while I often find thrillers somewhat predictable, Buried most certainly wasn't. It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. No. 2 in the charts, congrats on the new book @CaitlinMoran! ➕ I went to see her on the book release tour with @clemancy_ida at the rather lovely @stgeorgesbris venue in Bristol. Here’s a list of thoughts from me (love a list. LOVE a list). 1: Definitely guffawed when she wobbled her post-baby belly on stage (or ‘gunt’ as @mumzinthehood charmingly calls it) 2: Felt emotional when she enacted the emotional labour that women experience supporting friends, parents, kids, colleagues, neighbours...all at the same time 3: Punched the air (in my mind) when she cussed Prof Jordan B Peterson in answer to my question 4: Loved her strong opinions and humour 5: But don’t agree with everything she said. This isn’t a take down of another feminist. But a build on something she said. 6: There was a bit of tone policing. Caitlin believes ‘funny but polite’ is the most effective way of talking about feminism. That being angry turns people off. 7: Funny is ONE incredibly effective way to communicate. But it’s only effective because it’s one tone of voice within the spectrum 8: Imagine this spectrum - one end is a quiet gentle voice, nice, likeable. Still effects change, maybe with subtlety and discretion 9: The other end of the spectrum - loud, brash, angry, serious, outrageous, impolite. Effects change noisily and causes a ruckus. 10: Caitlin’s ‘funny but polite’ is acceptable to the mainstream because it’s NOT the extreme 11: But IF ‘funny and polite’ WERE the most extreme voice, suddenly the extreme voice has been dialled right down. Made quieter. Made more acceptable. 12: And lets be mindful of the feminists who are more likely to get tone policed for being too angry, too loud, too serious, too offensive (@rachel.cargyle discusses how Black Women are tone policed as ‘angry’ or ‘sassy’) 13: We need all these voices in the movement. If your feminism is funny 👍🏼 if your feminism is angry 👍🏼 if your feminism is gentle 👍🏼 We need an orchestra of voices. ➕ Looking forward to reading this book! ➕

Took this idea from @thehireader for the challenge! ⠀ ⠀ 🌙How do you choose books to read?⠀ I sit on my floor in front of my TBR shelf and pick books based on my mood then read the first page of each and pick the one that just fits!⠀ ⠀ 🌙Do you buy books online?⠀ DUHHH - Amazon is my BFF⠀ ⠀ 🌙Do you finish a book before buying another?⠀ Lol does anyone do this.....⠀ ⠀ 🌙When do you mostly read?⠀ Usually around lunch time and before bed!⠀ ⠀ 🌙Favorite genre?⠀ Psychological fiction hands down⠀ ⠀ 🌙Favorite author?⠀ This is hard but some I like are Ray Bradbury and Donna Tartt⠀ ⠀ 🌙Do you lend books?⠀ NOPE...I’m stingy ⠀ ⠀ 🌙Do you read two or more books at the same time?⠀ Usually no because it overwhelms me⠀ ⠀ 🌙Do your friends read?⠀ Lol like 3 of them which I why I started a bookstagram because my generation is LAME⠀ ⠀ 🌙How long does it take you to finish a book?⠀ 3-4 days!⠀ ⠀ 🌙When you see a person reading, do you peek at the title?⠀ Hahaha always!!!⠀ ⠀ •⠀ ⠀ #bookrecommendation

4/5 You guys - this book has one of the best endings I have ever encountered - I not giving anything away here because even the cover text mentions that. So when I started reading I was like "okeee, so there is a surprise somewhere, ha! I will just be on the look out, I a seasoned thriller-reader, I will not be surprised!" And oh my there are so many twists and turns and I literally did not see them coming - just on the page before I would suddenly go "OHMYGOD OHMYGOD" like, really good. . The only reason I giving four stars and not five is, that it takes some time to pick up and the writing is a bit sloppy here and there. . . Did anyone read this? No? Please do! Yes? CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT IT? 😂😂😂 . . . . . @goodreads reading #bookrecommendation 📖

I get asked all the time how I manage to read so many books. One of the tricks is using Audible for audiobooks. This gives me the opportunity to listen to books while I'm commuting or at the gym. Sometimes I can even listen at work if I have time! I generally listen to books 2-4 times to really make sure I understand the content. That's why my listening time is so high for having 93 books. I also like to listen to them at different speeds depending on the narration style and whether it's fiction or nonfiction. I plan to add at least 8 more books to my Audible collection this year! It's one of my most used apps. If you haven't tried Audible or audiobooks in general I highly recommend it! There's a link in my story that will help you get 2 free books from Audible if you want to give it a shot! Definitely worth trying if you ask me! _____________________________________ Tag @philosophyforsuccess and use for a chance to be featured on the page!
