Some people will tell you if it wasn't for the tough times they wouldn't have become the person they are today. Sometimes you may wish it was easy, but it's the challenge at times that mold many of the top achievers you admire. What the tough times do for those pursuing their dreams is to help them to go deeper into themselves to realize more of their potential. To experience adversity is not something you are going to go out of your way to experience, but it comes as part of the deal when you are working to achieve more out of life. So when tough times present itself, embrace it and know that it too shall pass. ____________________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE. @goingbeyondlimitations @davidcastain @blackenterprise @forbes #MentorshipMatters @huffpost

Create Safe Spaces. In May, @schedulucity CEO Jerry Nettuno surprised Compton barbershop owner @iambarberizm  with the first grant totaling $5,000. DC was brought to tears following the surprise, and announced that he will use the funds to provide the children of Compton with a safe place in his barbershop they not only deserve, but can be proud of. The space will allow area children to successfully complete their homework and safely spend time with their peers while they are not in school. . . At it's heart, @ted is about storytelling and @tedx_official is all about inspiration, ideas and community. TEDxComptonBlvd captures those who live, work and serve the community surrounding Compton Blvd.

The 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 you are, the 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘳 you can be.⁣ ⁣ At least that’s true using this definition of humility from Dr. Peter Kerr. And I think this definition is one of many great definitions for humility.⁣ ⁣ In the interview for episode 26, we talked about organizational leaders. Many of them have the power to hire and fire and to make life great or miserable for those they are leading. But just as quickly as they have power, they can lose it. One bad decision can bring a career to an end. Humility can keep this from happening.⁣ ⁣ When you have authority and influence over others, how do you use that authority and influence? And how do you expect others to treat you? ⁣ ⁣ Fewer and fewer people continue thinking that humility is about putting yourself down and talking badly about yourself, which is a good thing. Humility isn’t about letting people run you over. But this does not mean that when you do have power that you make sure everyone knows.⁣ ⁣ I liked Peter’s example of his father—a Major and the highest-ranked person on the military base—picking up trash on his way to work. No one would have faulted him for not picking it up. He was well within his rights not to. But he did it anyway. He did it because it needed to be done, he was there, and he didn’t expect any special treatment. Thankfully his son was there to share that example decades later. Even—perhaps especially—when you don’t expect recognition, that is precisely when you have the greatest impact.⁣ ⁣ If you want to hear more from this episode, follow the link in the bio. . . . matters

Not everything you do you have to love. Do you like the results it brings? Do you know the results you want? I want freedom. I want to spend every day with my wife and kids (eventually). I want to create greater impact than I am now. I want to help others at a higher level. I want financial peace of mind. Working a job won’t create those results. Financial Freedom is coming!! matters
