Due to the communications blackout, it is hard to ascertain the actual figures of civilian casualties or injuries. Jammu and Kashmir's connection with the inside and the outside world has been cut - leading to grave concerns on the human rights situation there. While the authorities have the right to maintain public order, @aiindia reminds the Government of India that use of pellet firing shotguns and other weapons is in defiance of international human rights standards. Here's a reminder why pellet firing shotguns should never be used.

Police brutality in J&K has crossed all limits. I condemn this violence on the innocent. JKPCC Gen Sec Shahnawaz Choudhury, JKPYC President Uday Bhanu Chib, Vice President Ajaz Choudhury & PYC Gen Sec Jatinder Singh Sunny were attacked while demonstrating for peace & unity for the people of J&K.

‘Situation getting normal in Jammu and Kashmir, thanks to better strategy by Amit Shah, Ajit Doval NEW DELHI: The situation seems to be returning towards normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources told that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba have devised a better strategy to ensure normalcy in the region. The schools in the region will reopen on Monday. Senior IPS officer and advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, K Vijay Kumar, told that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government announced abrogation of Article 370, they formulated an effective strategy to tackle the situation in the region. He said that it was a major challenge to detain those who could foment trouble, adding that strict action would be taken again miscreants who make attempt to spread rumour through social media platforms. Legal opinion has also been sought on issues that are of concern to the authorities. The officer further said that rehabilitation programmes were also run by the department to prevent youth from joining terror outfits. He said that such programmes were being run outside the purview of the media. While the government continues efforts to bring Jammu and Kashmir back to normalcy, challenges still remain for the region. According to sources, the snapping of 2G mobile internet services in Jammu region was due to technical glitch and overloading. The government is working to fix the glitch. Earlier reports had said that authorities received information about some anti-India message being disseminated in areas near Rajouri, following which the service was snapped. There were also reports of some arrests. The landline services continue to function in the region The authorities are not taking any chances with regard to the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Though the security personnel are continuing to maintain strict vigil, a decision has been taken to ease restrictions partially and even completely in some areas. In Srinagar, to ease the woes of residents, authorities have decided that they would ensure home delivery of LPG cylinders.

We all deserve to feel safe. Wether it’s at school, the grocery store, or in our home, our safety is important to us. So why is it that the people of Kashmir are not entitled to the same safety that we demand? The valleys of Kashmir deserve to feel the blessings of peace in every household on the mountainside. Kashmiri’s deserve to live safely in their own home. They deserve to sleep without any fear or worries about what tomorrow’s day of oppression brings. For the past 72 years, all Kashmir has asked for is their freedom from India. Today, with the abolishment of Article 370, the land of Kashmir and the rights of the Kashmiri people (along with all hopes of Kashmir’s prosperous future) have been violently subdued as the Indian army takes full control. Everyone must know that the Indian government has shut down schools, suspended the internet, and put all govt officials under house arrest. The Kashmiri people can no longer reach out to the world, and so it remains our duty to speak up for them. I urge EVERYONE to change their icon picture to red in order to raise awareness. Red, representing the Kashmiri blood shed. Red, as a symbol of the history of Kashmir that must be preserved even in the face of oppression by the biggest democracy in the world. Our silence is not acceptable. Kashmiris deserve to live in peace and prosperity too. (Some human rights groups have estimated the amount of casualties in Kashmir to surpass 100,000)

Kashmir is a paradise that is being fought over by two countries , without caring about the people who live in it, now the internet and telephone are prohibited, making loved ones unable to be touched, and for more than 7 days I have not been able to contact my friends there .. I want to go kashmir but I can't go there now 😭 ... I hope things will get better soon ... really miss this place 😭🥺
