This photo isn't glamorous, but these moments on the race mean so much more to me than cool views, and I want to share them with you. I want to make it clear that what I love about this year isn't just the travel, and that my days are mostly made up of sweet interactions like these, not mountaintop views and world wonders.
These are two of the High School girls I have bonded with most since being here in Cambodia. Our ministry is teaching English, but Minea and I have also been studying the book of Ephesians, half a chapter every night. It has been so beautiful to watch her learn and understand in her own language, then come together and share the insights we have gained. Tonight, Kumpheak asked if she could join us and I was thrilled. Because I speak very little Kmer, I wasn't a very big part of the conversation, and that was even better. Minea explained our questions in Kmer and led Kumpheak through our method of study (what was your favorite verse in this section, what is a truth you learned in this section, and how can you apply these truths to your life this week?) I will miss this place when I leave, but I feel so full of hope that these girls will be able to continue this on their own when I am gone. I truly pray for them the words of Paul to the Ephesians, "that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." #theworldrace #thisisus #lifeontherace #ifeelfull
